About Me
I have work most of my professional in the UK. After been awarded a PhD in soil science from University of Paris VI, I joined Silsoe Research Institute (BBSRC) to work on the dynamics of soil degradation and to model of soil and water-use in agricultural systems for regions in East Africa and in England. Moving to Scotland in 1999, I undertook research as part of the NERC thematic programme “Biological diversity and ecosystem functions of soil” at the University of Stirling before moving to Scottish Natural Heritage (rebranded NatureScot - Aug 2020) in 2003 as their soil science policy advisor. I am presently working on a range of environmental and land use issues aimed at promoting better understanding of the multiple functions, conservation of, and sustainable use of soils in Scotland. Key to this work is helping to develop better policy and guidance based on the wealth of evidence collected by Scotland’s soil research community and promoting access to this information through platforms like the Scotland’s Soils website and Peatland Action data project. I am involved with the organisation of the WCSS2022 conference tours.
