The British Society of Soil Science is holding a webinar for London Climate Action Week on Friday 27 June from 2:30pm - 3:30pm (UK time) and is free of charge to register. Join an expert panel as they discuss soil health as a climate mitigation and adaptation strategy.

The panel includes:

  • Prof. Jack Hannam - BSSS Past-President and Professor in Pedology at Cranfield University (Chair)
  • Prof. Marcelo Galdos - Program Innovation Lead at Agreena
  • Dr. Lizzie Sagoo - BSSS President-Elect and Associate Managing Director at ADAS
  • Dan Lambeth - Senior Leader in Regulatory Policy and Communications

Soils lie at the core of global climate and ecological systems but remain under-recognized in mainstream climate strategies. This event, convened as part of London Climate Action Week and the Road to COP30, brings together leading scientists, policy experts, and innovators to emphasize the pivotal role of soil in climate mitigation, adaptation, and nature-based solutions.

Participants will explore how soil health directly supports:

  • Net-zero goals through soil carbon sequestration
  • Resilient landscapes against floods and droughts
  • Risk mitigation with new opportunities for the finance and insurance sectors

This discussion positions the British Society of Soil Science (BSSS) at the forefront of the global climate-science-policy dialogue on land regeneration and resilience.

We look forward to welcoming you on the session.
